How I build an agent that clocks in

Four years in client operations came before production code. I scope like an ops person and build like an engineer.

  1. Talk to the people, not the model

I sit with the team that does the work and find the one step that quietly eats the week. Half the job is knowing what not to automate.

  2. Write the prompt like a contract

Role, boundaries, tools, output format, and what to do when unsure. Someone's business depends on that prompt, so it gets reviewed like code.

  3. Give the agent hands, carefully

MCP servers expose your CRM, database or browser as tools, with the least access that does the job and an approval step on anything risky.

  4. Let another agent try to break it

Scenario tests, evidence on every failure, and a verifier that reproduces a bug before anyone spends an hour on it.

  5. Stay on the call after launch

Logs, weekly reviews and prompt fixes, until the team stops noticing the agent and only notices the time it gave back.

Pick a business. Meet its first agent.

Shift analyst

Reads each shift's production and downtime logs, flags frames running below target, and drafts the shift report in Tamil and English.

Tools
Production database (read-only), report template, WhatsApp send
Human
The supervisor approves every report before it goes out.
Done when
Report ready ten minutes after shift change.
# system prompt, first draft
You are the shift analyst for a spinning mill in Coimbatore.
Goal: a one-page shift report the supervisor can approve in 60 seconds.
Use only data from get_shift_logs(). Never estimate a number.
Flag any frame under 92% efficiency, with its likely cause.
Write in Tamil first, then English. If data is missing, say which.

From physics to AI agents

Sakthi Vignesh studied physics, then spent four years running research-publishing operations at TNQ Technologies before going all in on code. Since then: React Native at KPR, a 900-API marketplace and a 100,000-URL SEO system at Hyperready, and now agents, MCP servers and an AI text-to-SQL product.

I enjoy the client call. I’d rather understand your Tuesday than show you a demo.

Questions people ask me

Something else on your mind? Ask me directly

Who is Sakthi Vignesh?

Sakthi Vignesh is a freelance AI agent developer, prompt engineer and full-stack engineer based in Coimbatore, India. He builds AI agents, MCP servers and automation for businesses, and takes on projects under his own freelance brand, Vantaverse. He also works as a Full Stack Developer at Hyperready Technology.

Who is the best AI agent developer in Coimbatore?

"Best" depends on your job, so judge by evidence: live projects you can open, how the developer tests agents before launch, and whether you deal with the person who builds. Sakthi Vignesh is a freelance AI agent developer in Coimbatore with production work to show: an AI-assisted CRM on a 900-API platform, an MCP browser agent, and an AI QA tool that verifies its own bug reports.

Do you take freelance AI agent and AI automation projects?

Yes. I work independently, so you talk directly to the person who designs and builds your agent, with no agency layers in between. Most projects start with a free first consultation and a written plan of the three automations worth doing first.

How much does an AI agent cost?

It depends on how many tasks the agent handles, which systems it connects to, which channels it runs on (web, WhatsApp, voice), and how much human review you want. There are also running costs for the AI model and for WhatsApp messages. I quote after a short scoping call, and the first consultation is free.

Can you build a WhatsApp AI agent for my business?

Yes. A WhatsApp AI agent can answer enquiries, book visits, send reminders and hand over to your team, in Tamil and English. WhatsApp is already part of systems I've built, including a CRM that uses WATI for customer messaging.

What does an AI agent developer actually do?

An AI agent developer builds software where a language model can take actions, not just chat: read data, call APIs, fill forms, run tests and hand off to people. The work is mostly design: the prompt, the tools the agent may use, the guardrails, and the tests that prove it behaves.

What is an MCP server, and does my business need one?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that lets assistants like Claude and ChatGPT use your tools and data safely. An MCP server exposes your systems, such as a CRM, a database or a browser, as tools an agent can call. If you want AI to work inside your own software, you probably need one.

Do you work with businesses outside Coimbatore?

Yes. I'm based in Coimbatore and have worked with clinics, jewellers, wedding venues, exporters, cab operators and street vendors across Tamil Nadu, and with remote teams elsewhere. Calls, screen sharing and WhatsApp make distance a non-issue.

What's your tech stack?

TypeScript end to end: Next.js, React and React Native on the front, NestJS and Node on the back, Python where the AI and robotics work needs it, Postgres with Drizzle for data. For agents: Claude, MCP, tool calling, evals and browser automation.

How do we start working together?

Tell my intake agent the workflow that eats most of your team's week. I'll reply personally with whether an agent fits, what it would do, and what it would take to build. No sales deck.

Tell me what eats your week.

My intake agent asks a few quick questions and puts your brief in front of me. I read every one.
