The build is a one-time cost for designing, building and testing the agent. After launch there are running costs, and they are easy to forget.

How to estimate your running cost
Multiply the conversations you expect each month by the average number of messages in a conversation, then by the cost per message. A good developer measures the real cost per conversation during testing and gives you that figure before launch, so there are no surprises.
